Title: Director of Fund Development and
Communications

Duties and Responsibilities:







  • He/she will be responsible for the formation and
    implementation of an annual fund development plan in
    conjunction with a formal or ad hoc Board committee(s), to
    include a broad range of activities.
  • He/she will be responsible for the preparation and
    submission of general and project-specific funding
    proposals to be submitted to private foundations and
    corporate sponsors, etc.
  • He/she will be responsible for all regular individual
    giving appeals, ranging from general gifts to bequests and
    memorials, etc., including database maintenance and
    appropriate follow-up with each.
  • He/she will coordinate the production of agency
    periodicals, acting as Editor of Foundation newsletters,
    etc., and as Coordinating Editor of SA periodicals (SA
    Group Leaders Circular, SA Forum newsletter).
  • He/she will be responsible for the formation and
    implementation of an annual communications plan.
  • He/she will be responsible for developing and
    maintaining pro-active contacts with print, radio and
    television sources and establishing the Foundation as a
    source of credible and reliable information.
  • He/she will be responsible for collecting, organizing
    and regularly disseminating information related to the
    objectives and functions of the Foundation to various
    sources for the purpose of raising the agency’s visibility
    and credibility.
  • He/she will be responsible for the implementation of
    National Schizophrenia Awareness Day (NSAD), including the
    creation and distribution of all related outreach
    materials, collaboration with other national stakeholders,
    and outreach to public relations firms and national and
    regional media outlets.
  • He/she will initiate and/or coordinate opportunities
    for agency representatives to participate in public
    presentations, media interviews, and other marketing and
    public awareness opportunities.
  • He/she will assume other assignments and
    responsibilities to be determined by the President & CEO.


  • Qualifications:


  • An bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism,
    Marketing, Public Administration or other related course
    of study.
  • A minimum five year’s experience in the field of
    communications, marketing and/or fund development.
  • Demonstrated ability to write successful grant
    proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to write efficiently and
    effectively, and to create materials for public
    consumption.
  • Ability to meet and deal with the general public,
    media, and stakeholders in a pleasant and effective
    manner, including the ability to communicate well by
    telephone, correspondence, and in person.


  • Location: The position may be assigned to the
    headquarters or a satellite office of the Foundation.
